This extension to an existing converted stable on the outskirts of Exeter has been designed to take maximum benefit of views from the site whilst avoiding noise issues associated with the nearby road.
The first floor extension has been designed to be distinctive from the existing buildings but to compliment their form, scale and materials. The new extension will be clad in western red cedar that will weather to a silver shade, blending in with the tones of the stone of the existing building.
The proposal aims to improve the energy efficiency of the property. The new structure will be highly insulated and make maximum use of natural daylight through windows and roof lights. Photovoltaics will also be integrated into the design of the new roof.
